Entirely within and around the Walls of historic Londonderry, the Maiden City Festival is the highlight of the City’s August holiday period and a major visitor attraction on the North West’s summer calendar. The Festival spectacularly adds to the celebratory buildup to the Apprentice Boys Association 321st Annual Commemoration of the Relief of Londonderry.
To help you organise a great day out in Londonderry we have laid out this programme to make it easy to plan your visit and explore every aspect of this great City. Your experience of visiting the City will be enhanced with our Siege Heroes Trail, aimed at casual visitors taking a walk around the historic Walls. Either print off the map and tour before you leave home or follow the Trail with your web-enabled mobile phone.Or you can pick up a copy of the Siege Heroes Trial at the start point at the Memorial Hall.
The Maiden City Festival is a showcase for Protestant culture of tolerance and openness, and for the heritage that is entrusted to the Apprentice Boys of Derry. The Maiden City Festival is the way in which the Protestant community of Londonderry, a minority community, makes a positive contribution to past heritage and contemporary life of the City and to diversity in expression of culture.
The Festival would like to thank all those who have contributed their time, energy and imagination, to making the Maiden City Festival possible, and especially to those who are not members of the Apprentice Boys of Derry.
